A blog by ordinary people about living an extraordinary life

Your mother would not have to make you eat these brussels sprouts

In this weeks CSA we received a small basket of brussels sprouts.  And, as luck would have it, there were a multitude of recipes for brussels sprouts in our Food Network and Whole Living magazines.  Checking our pantry we were able to find enough ingredients to make our own version of roasted brussels sprouts.

Before tossing into the oven

  • 1 cup  of Brussels sprouts, cut in half
  • 1 cup of Red grapes, cut in half
  • 1/2 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh thyme, chopped
  • salt and pepper to flavor
  • 1 teaspoon of balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup of hazelnuts, toasted and chopped in a food processor

Preheat the oven to 450F.  Place the brussels sprouts and grapes on a baking sheet.  Toss with olive oil, thyme, salt and pepper.  Roast for about 20 minutes, until the sprouts begin to caramelize.  Remove from the oven and drizzle with balsamic vinegar.  Toss with hazelnuts.

Bon appetite
